Fratelli Carli Adopts Red Hat's Open Source Application Platform

Red Hat Adopted By Fratelli Carli

Fratelli Carli has standardized its IT infrastructure on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, an open source application platform, to streamline the processing of orders and maintain system response times below one second through periods of peak demand.

Red Hat has said that since implementing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 on IBM Mainframe System z, Fratelli Carli has experienced increased levels of performance and simplification of communication within the mainframe.

With the assistance of Red Hat Advanced Partner Delphis Informatica, Fratelli Carli implemented Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 to run as a virtual guest on its IBM System z9 business class mainframe. Red Hat Enterprise Linux runs on the IBM z/VM virtualization hypervisor, which enables several instances of the operating system to run simultaneously on the same hardware.

Marco Gardini, mainframe system architect at Fratelli Carli, said: "I like Red Hat because it delivers a standard Linux product much closer to the logic of a mainframe than other products. I am totally satisfied with our choice."

Gianni Anguilletti, country sales manager at Red Hat Italy, said: "We are excited that Fratelli Carli has selected Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and is experiencing its great benefits."
