Red Hat , provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, announced the growth of its partner network, presence, and services in Bangladesh. This enhanced network enables Red Hat to continue providing regional support, training and sales activities, in addition to localized solutions for Bangladesh. Red Hat's presence in Bangladesh has been established through its strong network of channel partners. The company's partners in this region now include Base, Thakral, Daffodil, Flora and Technohaven. Key ISVs, software resellers, OEMs, SIs and business partners operating from Bangladesh offer unprecedented support to Red Hat's customers. The sales, pre-sales and technical support requirements for Bangladesh are also addressed through Red Hat's Kolkata office.
Over the years, Linux has emerged as the platform of choice that supports a range of business-critical applications. In Bangladesh, the popularity of Linux is increasing rapidly, especially in the banking and telecommunications sector where Red Hat has been able to successfully engage with the government and enterprise.
"Customers and partners alike have shown a keen interest to endorse Red Hat Enterprise Linux and various open source solutions through the Red Hat subscription-based business model"? said Tirthankar Mitra, Head - Channels and SIs, Red Hat India. "There is a clear indication of the huge potential for the usage of Linux in Bangladesh, which propelled us to penetrate the market through the expansion of our network."
According to Mr. S. A. S. M. Taifur, Division Chief, Agriculture, Planning Commission, Ministry of Planning and Director of Support to ICT Task Force Programme (SICT) project, " SICT is the pioneer of introducing open source technologies like PHP, MySQL, Open Office and Linux in Bangladesh. We have found these technologies affordable, customizable, suitable, secured and robust. We sincerely wish success to Red Hat and open source technologies in Bangladesh."
